Hello Corsa world, just bought a Corsa Arizona ready for my daughter
to learn to drive ( no you can't have her phone number ! )
It's a '95 Arizona 1.2, will this be a " B " or a " C " ?
It's very damp inside, in particular around the rear window,
does anyone else suffer this ? There's no apparent seal damage,
wonder if the sunroof is leaking or the drain holes are blocked.
Can any one tell me where the outside air temperature sensor
is located, and how much are they to replace ?.
Also, it consumes as much oil as petrol, doesn't blow smoke and
wonder if the valve seals have gone ? It has hydraulic tappet rattle
on a cold start too !
Any comments would be most welcome, regards de Wessy

It's a "B" model and the air temp sensor is mounted on the chassis behind the front bumper. It's on a wide L shaped bracket.

Can't help on other things.

Are you after a front temp sensor then? if so I have a working one which is heading for the scrappie unless you want it (payment via daughters phone number )

corsa's can get quite damp on the rear window, happens all time in mine, and now with nearly no interior in it, it still gets damp.
check for oil leaks, if its not giving any blue smoke, then internals should be in good condition. if it was the valve seals, then it would smoke when started up from cold, but would clear. if there is no smoke at all, check under the car, around the sump plug, sump itself & also oil filter. corsa's which have a cork rocker-cover gasket are prone to leaking, so could be worth replacing that. also check cam-oil seal (where the dizzy is)

I paid about £14 for mine brand new from a local Motor Factors so it was cheaper than vauxhall, these go wrong all the time
If you drive the car and boot it and while accelerating there is smoke out the back, the piston rings have gone, if you get puffs or smoke on gear change or when backing off it the oil valve stem seals, does sound like you got a leak but check the usual mayo type substance under the oil filler cap and check the expansion tank for an oily slick so you know its not the head gasket, ya could do a compression test too to be totally sure, do a wet and dry test, the tapping noise is the hydralic valve lifters if it clears after about 30 seconds when oil pressure is reached and oil has reached the head then its fine, if not they need replacing £120 for a 16V half that for a 8V, if you dont replace them its no big deal wont do any damage just keep the oil topped up
sorry for the long reply

or the tappets may be blocked, or the oil may be too thin.

hydraulic tappet rattle will be the lifters, as they are spring loaded and although giving it a bit of time for oil to reach the top, it can be fixed if your a perfectionist
