You'll get less performance with a twin exit than a single.. why bother? ...

so let me get this right, is it the more straight through an exahsut is then the less back pressure u get, therefore u loss performance and the fuel economy will also decrese? coz i find mine has slowed since gettin the centre section and things taken out also, i get about 160 miles to 3/4 's of a tank

if u get a straight thru exhaust the back pressure will de-crease a bit, this is not a bad thing to an extent, to much back presure is bad and too little back pressure is bad, there is a limit! lol, hope it makes sence!

surely that car should not be on the road again after that little smash all my exhaust has is a backbox, other than that its a straight through pipe! straight from my turbo

Mine looks totally different to that on page 1 that looks totally bodged compared to mine, mine goes straight through then an arch over the rear axle then straight through to the left backbox and then a left turn straight to the right hand backbox

The thing is - your all forgetting, the more turns in the exhaust the less free flowing the gas will be.

The reason a straight through exhaust system gives power is because they just flow straight and out. in a twin exit you get loads of twists and turns, which will slow the gases down and perhaps cause you to loose power (hence people like robboSRi claiming he felt he lost power on his corsa C's twin exit etc)

Admitadly everyone likes power but sometimes you have to compensate power with looks too, I have a GSI which I am quite satisfied with it has 109bhp as standard and I am now starting to add to it in the next couple of weeks I know you are not having a go so don't get me wrong but If I wanted something i.e a dual exit I would not forget about buying it just cos u will lose a bit of power, maybe people willl disagree, sorry people will disagree but thats what modding is about oppinions, Regards Paul...

thing is karnage some of the people were getting confused thinking providing you have a high back pressure you get power and assumed because the tubing was long in these twin systems they would get more power.

I was just stating why it doesn't work like that - I too wanted a twin exit system, the only draw back is the cost

Yes I know mate Personally I love the look of mine I suppose thats why I had to have it and the fact that it suited the Rear end perfectly, it makes sense about the pressure which I did'nt really know to much about but I have not really noticed a drop in power but it wont really matter at the end of January when I am shotting 140bhp out of the exhausts Ha ha
