is the only way to get pics from you're phone to a pc by using a data cable, or does the infa-red option work if your pc has this option??

i can link my gx20 and old nokias up to my pc with IR,
you will need some nokia software and an Infrared port on your pc.

Either use infrared with Nokia Data Suite (free), or MMS to send the pics to another phone or to an email address (36p a message).

You probably need to phone your network operator to 'enable' your SIM card, that's what I've had to do with various SIM cards over time, both contract and PAYG.
