ive got 17" speakers behind my door panels. cant tell they are there unless u look close. i used the sutoleads adapter yea. had to cut away at a little bit of the interior door skin (the metal stuff) so the manget of the speaker would fit in. u might not have to do this tho depending on what speaker u use
