werent the nova sports a 1.3 or 1.4 sr with twin carbs (as you said) but they produced 100bhp....... same as the GTE aint it??
They were like an SR (70bhp) with twin Weber 40's on an Irmscher manifold with Irmscher airbox. They had 87bhp, this was simply by junking the Pierburg which came standard. You got 100 bhp if you fitted the optional Irmscher (was a Brian Ashley) exhaust and the Cam with longer duration.
The point was this was a few years before the GTE came out and to make the Nova SR more competitive in the 1300 class. The Skoda Estelle always won the 1300 class, until the Sport gave the 1300 Nova a boost in group N (grp N means not really modified). A sport, an 87 bhp one wanked over my 1.3 SR, so it must have been a quicker rally car.
