yes its called a HPI search. Look on net for companies or Yellow Pages it will cost you a few quid though

my mate was arrested and forced to appear in court today and bailed till feb for not paying a seat belt fine.
problem is she never owned the car in question but it was registered in her name and address in nov 2002. the house it was registered she moved out of in jan 2001. all she knows is the car is an astra. she wants to know colour and model to see if it jogs any of her ex neighbours memories

Tell the police/her solicitior. Its their job to sort this kind of thing

When the person actually driving got caught I am assuming they got a producer. Ask the plice to provide the producer. Surely the details did not match up in terms of address on liscence, log book, cover note etc?
Might be worth looking into and if you find the police to be at fault in any way ie. not checking the producer properly or something then the case will be thrown out I would have thought.
Mind you, any half decent lawyer will probably have checked all that already

the DVLa should have a copy of the signiture used to transfer the car onto the person in question

and only the police could get the info about the car as you dont have the authority as it breaches the data protection act

Problem is the car was registered in her name therefore the police assume it is hers. to prove it is not hers should be relatively easy I would imagine.
the thing that I don't understand is why is it registered in her name
