THE 12 worst second-hand cars on the market have been exposed in a survey of drivers.
Almost 33,000 motorists were asked by the Consumers' Association to rate their vehicles for reliability, safety, performance and security.
The "dodgy dozen" to avoid are: Citroën Saxo; Fiat Brava; Fiat Bravo; Ford Galaxy; Mitsubishi Carisma; Peugeot 106; Peugeot 406; Renault Laguna; Seat Alhambra; Vauxhall Omega; Vauxhall Vectra; and VW Sharan.
The Peugeot 406 is lambasted as "almost certain to let you down", while the Citroën Saxo stands accused of "failing to make the grade for safety, security or performance".
The Vauxhall Vectra has "lots of problems", according to the report in the CA's Which? magazine.
The VW Sharan, Seat Alhambra and Ford Galaxy have "very poor reliability", while the Renault Laguna is singled out for "exceptionally poor reliability".
Among the best buys identified by the survey are the Toyota Yaris, Ford Focus, Honda Jazz and Audi A4

To be perfectly frank its a badly put together pile of shite. It is without a doubt one of the worst saloon cars on the market, its an embarresment to the automotive industry. That being said I quite like the way they look, just a shame its all show.

have you driven the latest models?
I drove a brand spanker in january LAST year and the handling was so poor I took it back (courtesy car) and demanded another one. Another identical vectra was exactly the same (so not a one-off issue). Ended up they gave me a Volvo C70 out of the executive hire pool
The Vectra? It's dangerously poor. Took fast bends worse than my old 1000cc F-reg polo...

come on - a left-hand bend on fast A-road and the back slid out at approx 78mph (not quite 80).
Those who know the Derby area may know it, on the A52 heading into Derby the "Spondon Curve". Fast bend lined with concrete crash barriers.
It's 120mph knee-down on the bike.
It was 115mph in the rally prepped HRV and 110mph in the Audi A4 but that was a touch damp so not puching it.
The polo took it at 90mph but felt ready to let go, and the old F reg astra I had was comfortable at about 85 but never used to push that car hard to be honest.
So, a bend I'm used to taking daily at about a ton, maybe 90 if its wet... I go round at under 80 and its about to swap ends on me...
family car or not, thats shocking and abysmal.
