keep the 1.6. tune it up, it may not have the power of the 2l, but it will handle 100% better, and if you really want a turbo....do it.
and the insurance will be better too. you want something that people think is shit but you can smoke them, fells great.
had a mate that had a shitty mk1 nova, but it has a valver under the bonnet, used to get kev wankers trying to rac all the time.
KEEP THE 1.6

sbd have had 250bhp......
You'll need fairly lairy cams and high comp pistons to get a genuine 200bhp.
I got 199.4, and have standard pistons, if you know what i mean.
I just have a tb kit with fairly mild cams and headwork (std top end), i did a 1/4 mile in 14.0. Standard c20xe nova's get about 14.5 to 14.8......
Personally I would go with velos, but find out exactly what you get with both kits and how much they cost.
Have you ever been to pod? I'll let you know when I go up next if you want to have a look, its not too far from leics. It will probably be around march time.

Santa Pod is only round the corner from me matey, my aim is to start going to these things, i got new overiszed pistons in at the mo, i think they got deeper valve pockets in 2mm but i aint 100% sure, they have got valve pockets any way, i think i will go with the velos, i got stage 2 ported and polished head so with the TB's and mild cams + the DTA engine managment i should see pretty good power i guess, wouldnt mind new pistons if needs be and some wild cams + steel con rods to hold it together (I got ARP rod bolts already) HHHMMMM just need the dollar now!!!
SO with a fully re-built C16XE, stage 2 head, stainless 4-2-1 manifold, Cat back system, TB's, managment, Mild cams, upped rev limit say 7500RPM what power will i be looking at there, i would like my car to be quicker than a C20XE'd corsa

Thats pretty much the same setup as mine. I reckon I have about 175-180bhp ish.
Keeping the cat would be silly. Just put it back in for the mot.
I dont have steel rods and go to 8k, they have been diy deseemed. So no real reason why you cant, as long as you dont go there regulary. Mine is set at about 7700 for normal use, and I never really take it that far on the road. I have the piper bp285 cams, they are fairly mild in the way of things, I use std springs etc, but they wont work on std injection.
