A while ago I had hit a curb pretty hard and had to have the CV joint replaced. The mechanic said that he wasn't sure if the trackrod was bent also but said "give it a go and take it from there."
Well, I wore out my tyres pretty rapidly after that and just assumed that the tracking was out and forgot about the trackrod. But I just got some new tyres and thought it would be best to have it properly aligned. The guy at ATS had it on the ramps and said that the trackrod was bent so there was no point in tracking it up...
Question is - how much to repair the bent trackrod? 98 Corsa B without PAS.
Cheers

Looking in the Haynes I think fitting it is beyond me... how much for a garage to do it? A garage that is not a Vauxhall one!

Birstall eh? Could always bring it your way if you can do it cos I'm from Huddersfield.
What if the rack is not damaged? How much just to fit the trackrod?
Sorry for all the questions...

Track rod ends are easy mate do it your self, i have taken mine off before, just count the threads before you remove it then the tracking wont be a mile out when ya put the new ones on

I bet it would
Is it the track rod or the track rod end thats bent. If its the track rod better of with a second hand rack.
Garages dont rip you off they charge you for providing a service just like any proffessional!

yes but they often charge ridiculious amounts for the service they provide which can usually be done by anyone with a bit of common sense and a pair of hands!

Ive seen it - its the actual rod thats only slightly bent. How can you tell if the rack is damaged?

Mate are you in Nottingham?? Cos I know all of the Nottingham Vauxhall breakers and they will sell you and some of them will fit a manual rack for not a lot. I know AVS down the road from me will do you a second hand manual rack for £30ish and they have loads in stock... Let me know if you want some help as im local...
Personally I would just change the entire rack. As its a safety item I would as soon as it could be quite dangerous driving around on a damaged/weakened track rod...

Not really. Not interested in seeing dickheads who measure how modded their car is depending on how many 6x9s they can fit on their parcel shelf, how bright their washer jets are and how loud their exhaust is! Although, there are some well modified cars there, and by the look of your avatar, you are one of the few!
Cheers for the help with the suspension
