yeah when you buy the 120 disk you arent actually getting 120 gigs, its a known fact now that they lie, I'm getting the most I can out of my hard drives and thats around 111gb

The loss in space is because of programmers using 1024 and hardware manufactures using 1000. Theres a terabyte external drive coming out next month.

oh and if you mean the terabyte external drive which comes with fancy ports like usb/firewall, thats actually 4 hard drives I believe

It is more than 1. I think the biggest hd u can get at the moment might be 300 gig. U can defo get 250 though.

from a 180gb HDD i get 172gb!
i have it split into 127gb and 45 gb. also have a 4gb hdd for porn is there anyway i can put a password on this hdd in windows? or on the folder?

U can get progs that will encrypt whole parttions. Not got the name of any off the top of my head.

i'm using BestCrypt (try google), which lets me make an encrypted file which i can mount then appears like a drive (like your C drive), I use a passphrase instead of just a word to lock it, and its lovely

RAH mikey, I was tempted for 200 but thought about the situation when everything goes tits up, plus I got the extra IDE controller on the SMP board so 120's will do for now before I get space hungry again
