you could take the plastic arch off, cover it in cling film using it as a mould by fibreglass matting over it.

wat my idea of how to do it was which i may do
1. cover the arch and about 6 inchs up the car with clingfilm
2. lay about 4-6 layers of fibreglass matt over the top of the arch
3. take it off and remove the plastic arch
4. fill the back of the fibreglass arch with expanding foam
5. glue the fibreglass arch where it would normally bolt on
6. lay another couple of layers of fibreglass matt over the arch and up onto the body work, oh sand the paint off too, down to the metal.
7. blend this onto the wing and 3/4 panel
8. skim over with filler
9. paint.
