A guy at my work at vauxhall, ran a 1.4 16v corsa and he didn't secure his battery. one day last year he was coming home from birmingham and had to brake hard down from about 80mph. this caused the battery to slightly move forward and then when he came to a stop the weight of battery shifted and tilted. the positive post touch the bulkhead and fused together, creating a dead short. this caused sparks and eventually fire. all bcuz of one clamp and a 13mm nut. it seems a simple thing but it can cost lives. dont put yourself at risk.
you also have a risk of explosion if the battery acid is leaked between the cells. please think safety first, fun second.
