I got my corsa 3 years ago and never got a Log Book with it (private seller)! Sold my car about a month ago on Part ex and have had my current car for a month!
Just got an ans werfone message from the garage asking for the log book! if they mean the V5, then their should have it! If they mean the log book with service history, then not a chance! I ain't got one!

What can happen, they carn't do anything can they!? When I bought the car they didn't ask so I didn't say and when buying and selling a car you should never assume right?

The garage came with me to the DVLA to swop it all over. New Tax disc was sent to me but the V5 must of got sent to them! I gave them the new tax disc the day it arrived (about 4 days after we reregistered the car)

if the worst comes to the worst you can simply go and buy a new v5 as you are the last registered owner

and if they wanted the service etc they would have asked forf the service history.

they want the log book aka the v5.

Rather than "fuck em off, say they had it" why not tell the truth!!
Getting a new v5 now is hardwork if your not the registered keeper.

if you ain't got the v5 you have to pay to sort out the problem. you have to prove that you/trader has bought the vehicle with a letter from the seller then they have to send off forms with a payment to sort out a v5 or as they are know as now a v5c which is the new format.

i only know cause i work for a car company and we got aload of info about it from the dvla

Rang the DVLA who have informed me that I am no longer the registered keeper and that the garage needs to ring them or the new owners and arranged for V26? Apprently the laws changed on 1 st Jan but the garage won't accept our answer and says he's rang the DVLA and they said we have it! Complete lie tho coz they came with me to the DVLA office to swop documents so I could keep my private plate!
