when you have an MOT, and your headlights are out of alignment, do they fail u, fix them for u, or charge u to fix them?

mine are way out with being off a different car and need them doing, but not paying if its part of MOT

just park it on a flat surface with a wall infront of the car
"do it in a garage" and line it up yourself

even if its close you may pass as long as there not miles out

one of my headlights were out at m.o.t. time and the guy just adjusted it for me. there was a plastic bolt thing next to the inside of head light and he justed twisted it till both headlights were align.

so thats to say if u know the garage owner he could be leanient?

this is what we are stuck with in Ireland--> http://www.nct.ie/

its the biggest money making racket

if your car fail the likes of light alignment u have to go get them fix at a garage then u have to go for a retest which costs the same as the original test.

What pisses me off though as it is brought in by the government to help with road safety and the environment, yet we have to pay for the testing. Fucking stupid

I would have no problems with the MOT itself if it only looked at major checking points on the car and if it was done free of charge.

It does check major items and why should it be free? Do vets look at your pets for free? etc etc.

I think it should go further and should be at least twice a year. Avehicle can do a lot of miles in a year and theres a lot of death traps about.
