How the fek do ya use it! I just got a copy of it & damed if I know how to do stuff in it!

So far I've just imported a base model from a DWG file, but the lines were all seperated so can't extrude them now, plus I tried creating the same thing within Pro/Desktop, but the interface is pure cak! How can I type in the size of objects instead of being careful of how to drag the mouse?

DWG \ DXF is from autocad, but 3ds max can *kind* of convert simple surfaces to them & pro desk lets me import it!

Basically I'm converting sections of this to an autocad DWG file...

Importing it into ProDesktop...

But I can't join the lines to create solids, so I get this...

But really can't draw in prodesktop, cant adjust grid lock unless I zoom in which is useless, also I looked for some sort of tutorials but can't find anything from what I gather you cant enter values for length, width... you can only drag the mouse to the size

right, didnt understand most of that, but i think i can help.

in order to extrude u have to do one thing at a time, for example that big square in the middle, then a circle, then another circle. Alternatively if its just one big shape all joined together u can cut out the lines in the middle to make it one shape, toolbar pic of scissors (there must be a tutorial on one of those webistes).

in order to change sizes u click on the bottom thing in the toolbar on the right, the 'xx' and some arrows. then click on the line u want to change.

i know this hasnt made much sense, im in a rush, im about to go out. u2u me for more help mate, or send me a sketch with some sizes and ill do it for ya. and also wot the hell is it?

Ok another question...

is there any way to position an object relative to the world, ie, one object is X-0, Y-0, Z-0, and another is set to X-30, Y-15, Z-0???

You got 2 different parts that need to be in specific positions? To do that you have to mate each part to a workplane, which is in the correct location of where you want the part to be...

yup I found that out the hard way so why I'm re-creating it all again!

I'm slowly getting used to it, took a while to figure out how to add dimension's & rotate objects, its just absolute positions now!
