But you can only say that if you know the owner. It is a thought, not the truth, i could be talking BS and the owner fitted the ecotec for a completly different reason. Im just stating some of the facts about using a new engine compared to an old one.

Yeah, the owner might've obtained the engine for very little money in which case he's probably looking at us arguing about his engine and pissin himself laughing!

i reckon he found the engine stuck in his shoe..
i often wonder whether to get a newer 2.0 instead of redtop....just because i'd want one with low miles...

Will ahve a lot less miles than a redtop
Lighter than a redtop
Nearly as much torque
Better on emissions
Can still see over 230bhp from them
Works VERY well with superchargers
Works well with different ideas such as the above

Ok, so it's newer but the old redtops aren't notoriously unreliable are they? You're probably only talking 2kg's max in terms of weight difference.
If you're interested in making proper power (and he clearly is because he's ditched the standard inlet manifold) then you're always going to be fighting against the restrictive ecotec head design - and who cares about emissions?
Nahh, the redtops are fantastic engines. Only ahd minor general engine faults happen with mine with what u'd expect with the mileage. This isn't to say the Ecotec lump still isn't good anyway. Restrictive ecotec head design wont come into play when you fit TB. Its direct into the head.
Get throttle bodies onto any Vauxhall engine and watch the power gains. Usually better than most other manufactures simply because they restrict it so much.
2kg? Nahh, the engines look a alot difference in terms of size, but i admit i dont know how much the X20 lumps weigh.
Oh, emissions, well, if you want a car thats going to get through the new MOT laws easier and u use it a lot, then it may concern you. Most XE corsa owners need to think about emissions/cat installation when fitting the engines as its a pain in the arse having to put the cat back in every year. Fortunatly, i dont have this problem
OJC being his typical childish self i see. Nothing changes Still come on here every day all day do you??

confused. TB's replace the inlet manifold system they don;t touch the head. so how would fitting TB's not "come into play" with the ecotec head

ooooooooooo wondered how long it would take YOU to reply
Restrictive head, the head isn't restrictive at all on the ecotecs. Its the inlet manifold. And yes, throttle bodies do connect to the head vibrio. Or does the air just jump into the engine magically. I just meant as in the inlets on the TB connected to the head.
No doubt you will try your hardest to fault my replies, nothing new, same old you

when he bought the subframe he was told that any vauxhall 2.0l 16v would fit, which it does, but he was unaware at the time of the diffrence between the ecotec and the xe, so went for the eco as it was newer and had less miles, only later to find out the bhp diffrence, which has now dissaperd because of the tb's
