Can anybody tell me why the engine warning light comes on in my girlfriends car(1.4 corsa sport) when doing over 50mph,light comes on and the car cuts out,power steering goes and brakes etc,the same thing used to happen in my GSi but only when going up/down steep cobbled roads at speed,the car begins to jerk forward and backwards before it finally cuts out,the car will restart no probs after but same thing happens everytime the car goes above 45-50mph,i thought maybe it could be because the cat was knackered or maybe something to do with the air box etc??Tried de cokeing the engine with fuel injector cleaner etc but didn't seen to work,does anybody have any suggestions,Cheers

Thanks for the link,i can't try this though because i'm not aloud to touch her car she says i'm a hazard and i don't know what i'm doing,

well if u arnt allowed to touch her car why not just take it to a garage and ask them

BECAUSE SHE HAS THE SAME THINKING ALL WOMEN HAVE THEY DON'T REALISE THAT CARS HAVE WEAR AND TEAR AND THINK THEY CAN RUN FOREVER WITH NO MAINTAINANCE,
The fiesta rst had a 1600 cvh engine,piper mid-range camshaft,Escort RST LSD box,stage1 ported and poilshed head mahle low comp pistons,,Felpro headgasket,power engineering t3 hybrid turbo with 360degree thrust bearings,-34 actuator,Pace chargecooler,4"powereflow exhaust system,ERL 5th injector,ARB conrod bolts,Power engineering stage 2 boost controller running 17psi,K&N induction kit,Bosch KE-Jetronic fuel injection,195 Superchip,uprated fuel pump,701 Beige injectors,it could run upto 250bhp if you tweeked the psi up to 22 but had serious overheating problems everytime this was done,it went like fu ck and weighed next to nothing,i'd say it was doing 0-60 in 6 seconds,could sit on escort cosworth ars es all day,
