I doubt it, as long as there are people like me who completely rebuild shagged old examples!!!

They made a hell of a lot and most of those that end up in scrapyards find a new home pretty quickly.

Kind of, I think you can still buy new bare blocks and then build your own up.

Yup you can buy a fully-built C20XE from vaux (well, everything bar ECU, Loom, Inlet & Outlet manifolds, injectors, etc...) but rest could probs be included at a fair cost (I know the engine itself is £1500 new, as I've already asked!)

There's still plenty of engines kicking about so no need to worry.

If anything, there's no better time to buy a dirt cheap high mileage C20XE and rebuild it like new.

if the engine was actually rebuilt, would it be "as good as new"?

also would the mileage return to 0?

how much does a rebuild cost?

A decent rebuild would cost around £700 depending on what work was done.
Including cams, headwork and the cost of the engine/g'box my bill's just over the £1k mark.

The engine should be as good as new if the parts are properly inspected and changed.
Mileage on your dials would stay as they are. They record the mileage of the vehicle, not just the engine, but you might want to make a note of the mileage on the log book for your own records.

I dont see the problem in using the Eco-tec, over the red top.......

Its easily tuned back up to over 150bhp, but its a more refined + efficient engine to start off with!

If i had the money, i'd be dropping a very low milage 2.0 ecotec into a later spec corsa and have the best of both worlds.

However, sayin that, the red tops are amazing, and go on foreva.
