converting DivX / VidX .avi files to VCD mpg?

Just downloaded some DVD quality films and want to burn them to VCD. Don't know what to use?

I tried something called TMpeg but it didn't like the file type.

I found something cal led cucusoft convertor but it was doing it at like 1.5 fps and estimated the conversion would be done in 42 HOURS!!!
