1.2 16v

I'm toying with the idea of replacing the air intake from the throttle body back to the induction kit.

Would replace the whole 'top hat' plastic thing (with the 3 bolts in it) with a staright bit of pipe, would just have to connect it to the air mass meter.

The tricky bit is making a connection to screw down onto the throttle body.

Thoughts?

Got a pic of the design of it? If its the same as the spi ones then the design is fairly simple and probably effective.

Do you want to do it for performance gains or looks?

It looks a bit like the spi one, slightly different.

Was thinking of doing it for cheep performance. (a bit anyway)

The volume of the top hat will play a part in the performance. Whether modifying that or the pipe will gain performance who knows.

Will probably move the power band and change the resonant frequency of the inlet.

I would have thought it would play more of a part with the torque.

I have a problem with the car to fix first, loosing power when you try and pull off...

But if i manage to fix that i'll then feel more entheusiastic and i might have a go at this.

Need to make some sort of flange with 3 holes in it that will then connect to the new pipe.

I should do some calculations about the induction length and decide on the best length....

(I'm a mechanical engineering uni student, i *should* know how to do it, but i don;t )

Oh you've done this before then?

How did you connect it to the body?
