It has one bolt underneath, an adjuster with an E"type" head on it, a bracket on the top mounting onto the engine.
Basicly it looks like you undo the bolt to free off the adjuster and then turn the E"type" head to move the alternator and adjust the tension on the belt. What i dont get is why there is a bracket fixing the top of the alternator(the bit where it adjusts) to the engine.
Can someone help.

no need to undo the bolt at the bottom. lossen the bolt at the top adjustment braket and u should be able the move the whole altenator towards the engine enough to get the bellt off
then do reverse to get it back on

Yeah but aint the bracket that goes from the top of the alternator to the rear of the engine preventing the alternator actually moving?

yeh and u need to move the altenator to get the belt off
