i know its probably been asked before but..
has anyone had any dealings with HIC insurance.. i know Tim has recommended them.
my quotes have all been around £800 TPFT and £1100 FC
but rang HIC and TPFT was £360 and FC was £550
spoke to the "BOSS" who gave me discount for everything possible but said he needed to know if i was gona accept it by saturday (13th) and gave me a personal number to contact him on.. sounded dodgy but iv no idea whether they are any good on claime, paying out, being helpful etc cos its dead cheap
should i take it or stay with tesco at £750 TPFT or FC £1030 with all mods declared
decent response appreciated AS I NEED TO SORT MY INSURANCE BY FRIDAY

Liverpool Victoria aint bad, I have them, never claimed though.
I have heard good things about HIC, I am sure I spoke to the boss when I rang for a quote too, said next year at 19 he could insure me on a 2.0 16V corsa for around £1000.

Im with HIC, told them +37bhp and certificate came back with all mods listed and +0bhp!
Rang up and told them again and came back +9bhp!
Standard gsi is 109 and mine is 118 at the wheels so sod it!
Then found out up to 10bhp is free with HIC, and all cosmetic mods, they get listed on your certificate too so im covereed!
They've started charging £30 admin fee for making changes to your policy now so just tell them all your mods in one go, even if you aint got the bits on and ul be covered!
Only problem ive had is trying to get through in the afternoon, especially mondays cos they get well busy!
Just check any discounts aint gonna invalidate ur insurace as if ur car gets nicked without the clifford alarm its meant to have on then i doubt there gonna pay out!

After a year pass plus dont count.
Only certain companies give discount.
Personally im gonna ring:-
HIC
Liverpool Victoria / Frizzell
Bell Direct / Elephant.co.uk
Adrian Flux
Direct Line
Tesco's and
CIS
They've always given me the best quotes.
I wont be ringing 1st quote as i had a nightmare with them!
Got offered a policy with 12 months finance but found out it was only for 6months cover when i tried to take it out!
Then the company that they got me policy offf went bust and insurance was cancelled and then i got threatened with legal action by the administrators for not returning the certificate to the insurers!
Thing was 1st quote had the certificate cos i cancelled a week before it was declared bankrupt!
Got passed round 5 operators once to and ended up back at the 1st operator, it wasn't until i asked to speak to the boss that the girl didnt pass me on again and sorted out me policy!
Never again, id rather pay double than go with 1st quote!

Throughout my years, I must have rang all the insurance compainies in the Yell pages. If your car is modified (Lowered especially), i would save your time and only ring CIS, HIC, Tescos, Liverpool Vic and Flux.
I'm with HIC currently. They half'd the quote from Tesco and CIS to £200ish f'c, protectd, legal... The Zaffy is with Tesco of over £500 so not bad.
The 2 worst people to deal with in life are the taxman and insurance people. Theyre quick at recieving our money, fcuking slow returning it.

Ul loose the 7months(assuming ur policy is 12months) of no claims if you cancel and wont get that much cash back, if you've claimed then your not entitled to any cash back if you cancel.
Aint got the numbers handy but i bet a search for "insurance numbers" would give ya them.
HIC were more expensive than liverpool for me but had to go with them as liverpool vic wouldn't cover all me mods.
Its different for different people / cars.

Liverpool Victoria have now changed their policy on modifications......they will now NOT cover engine-transplants, confirmed when someone in work rang them to double-check.
Try Greenlight or Adrian Flux, both of which should cover everything like-for-like.
