for anyone still unsure about the law regarding cats and the mot with the 2.0 conversion i phoned the ministry today and they said there NOT required. they take it by the year of the engine not the year of the car.
eg if the engine is pre 92 it doesnt have to have a cat even if its in a post 92 car

but some MOT testing stations require proof of the year of the engine. I have my MOT on Wednesday and theyre taking my work for it as to the year of the engine.

The emissions test will find out if your engine requires a CAT or not.

Mine phoned the Ministry during my MOT test... also confirmed it was fine to have it in my 1998 Corsa...
Also got a seperate 'cover note' from the testing station that I can show to any police doing a roadside test to explain why my car is putting out 1056ppm
