Got pulled yesterday for my plates and copper started looking round the car checked tyres front only, all lights and wiper and spray and asked for ID and that, all normal i thought.

then......

he said " do you know there is a law that a car has to have a minimum of 4 inches ground clearence "

Is this true as i dont think it is and he was just spouting shit, i said i hadnt ever heard that law before but didnt say anything else as he didnt fine me or even give me a producer

i dont think there is a limit set, but if you ground out all the time and cause damage to the roads you can get in trouble.

dont think there is any law on ground clearance

the only law i know regarding how low a car is is that you'll fail an MOT if your wheels are rubbing on the bodywork

or... if the police deem the car to be dangerously low, but buy that it would have to be silly low i reckon

Would have to be constantly hitting the floor causing damage to the road. As said there are loads of standard sports cars that have less than 4" clearance.

I never bottom out in my car and i swear there are a few parts of the car that are lower than 4 inches but he said i was just about ok

I dont think he was a modder at heart, he was a bit of a knob aswell as he was sat in a layby waiting for people to turn right at a no right turn junction, bored or loser or both
