I've been offered a flame red GSI on a L plate. Apparently it's in mint condition but is on 93,000 miles. I've been offered it for £1600, but the only thing worrying me is the mileage. Is this a problem with these engines ?????

If i went to look at it, what sort of thing should i look out for and check ????

Cheers in advance

Rust on the B pillars. All old Corsas do it! Corsas are pretty tough cars. Mines done about that, and its still sound!

are the engines pretty bullet proof then ??? cos i don't want to have to spend much ££ on it cos the insurance will take up most of my budget !!! Is the price good for a L reg with average mileage ???? cos parkers only starts at 95 M

as long as it ain't puffing smoke at the moment and is pulling smoothly on the test drive it should be fine.

i had a 1.4 16v up to 91K and it was sound, the new owner on here hasn't reported n e probs to me with it, so i would say they are pretty tough engines.

Just keep the oil changes regular - i've choosen every 3K for mine - but that's prbably overkill

The 1.6 GSi's are good engines. The inlet manifold is incredibly restrictive but the engine is capable of 20XE power. At least 180ish with throttle boddies and some good management.

It's good that you know about the B-Pillars, they usually crack at the base, if this is the problem remember to have a bodyshop drill in front of the crack so it doesn't happen again. Then weld and fill it.
