NA mate dont think its possible (not 100%) tho why dont you go to a breakers or Vauxhall and buy a new one? or get asecond hand one from scrappy??

so say i went to a scrappy and got an ecu for that size of engine, would it still work with it being an ecu for a different engine????????

Your 1 liter ECU wont work on 1.8 i dont think. You will need an ECU for the 1.8 16V engine and just wire it in. Or you can get a custom one from velosmotorsport.com which they will program from scratch for the 1.8 engine. Dont thinks its possible to reprogram any standard vauxhall ECU for a different engine. Just go scrappy get a ECU of a car with same 1.8 engine and it will work fine.

I've heard ECU's 'adjust' accordingly to the engine

Yea but its a bit different from a 1000cc to an 1800cc ???? thats some adjusting to do!!!! NOt 100% sure but you guna need a ECU for your 1.8 engine either from vauxhall, custom made or second hand from scrappy

NO mate sorry, but from scrappy they shouldnt be too expensive. £50 to 100 jus guessing. phone around a few scrappys in yellow pages matey. Tell em you want and ECU fo a 1.8i 16V vauxhall engine (tell them year of your engine) and they should sort you out

I also think that you need the transponder out of the key of the car with the 1.8 ecu. All ecu's are programmed to work with a specific car key.

You *could* reprogram a 1.0 ecu to work witha 1.8 BUT we are talking advanced microcontroller programming here which i'm guessing your not an expert at

Think it should wire in and work with your old key?

what? Jus spoke to my mate (mercedes mechanic) and hes says you would need the original ECU from the 1.8 engine or have the new one re programmed to work.

yes you would need one from either the same type of engine, or a full standalone unit.

thats ok the cus the original ecu is long gone by now, so will just have to try and find 1 from the scrappies and then get it re-mepped for my key n immobiliser etc
