im got going on modded cars though,

im only on about std hot hatches, and you'll find the majority of hot hatches will hit between 130-140mph and they are all factory figures.

i just thought you where wrong to laugh off 140mph so easily, hence why i questioned it.

it was costing me an absolut fortune to keep on the road, new this new that! the engine itslef was sweet and i was fookin rapid

but financialy it was huting me, i.e only being 20 insurance was hurting to add to the rest of my problems, so i had to get rid and go back to me corsa..i got a pic of me scort somewhere if i can find it...

yeah, they are nice cars to keep mint and standard if you can get hold of one, a fine example is a fair bit of money!

i think in reality u would be very shocked how much less actual speed is than indicated on the speedo.

please dont insult my intellegence, ive been on this site as long as you have

VAG's factory figures for my car is 129mph

i havent had my car over 110mph, long straight roads on the Isle of Man are hard to come by.

people on the clubgti site have had indicated 140mph of their 16v's, which taking into account the 10% inaccuracy, isnt a kick of the factory figures

[Edited on 26-03-2004 by Gambit]

wind your neck in FFS someone proved that top speed of the ST170 was 133 or whatever it was, i wasnt undermining your itelligence i was just stating what has been proven.

You ask people like Andy Hamilton and users like Lucky B who ran big power cars and they reach speeds off their clocks yet when datron trakked they tell a very different story

lucky B's old corsa ran out of track doing 140 IRRC and that felt very very dangerous from what i heard.

So before you get on your high horse dont argue the facts. 140 is a very fast speed for a normal road car end of.

Did i mention it was on a slight downward gradient, steve-stylee?

In real terms, in 6th gear it was probably going at 133-135mph, but as you said, speedo inaccuracies kick in at such high speed, oh and BTW, the car felt perfectly fine at 130mph, wasnt shaking at all, and was quite happy at maintaining that speed on the test track

My mates got an ST170 in dark grey, first thing about the car is the handling. So its faster point to point than it is in a straight line.

The other day he was taken on by a BMW 320d and got him from start upto about 80 and the bmw caught him up as he slowed down a bit then proceeded to pass him, and he was flat out in fourth at 80 mph.

Not the quickest car in the class then, unless a 320d is very quick ???
