I just fitted a 1.4 8v spi engine to a 1.2 8v spi car. Everything hooked up right, but it won't run. It starts and cuts out almost immediately, the engine management light shows and flashes. It won't fire when the light flashes. But will for the second or two the light isn't flashing.
What could it be?
I have checked every wire and cable, only thing left is a 3 pin plug which was on the 1.2 power loom taped over.
Help me

Does your car have a transponder imobiliser? I didn't know mine had and got some new keys without the transponder in and the engine light was flashing but it wouldn't fire at all.

Yeah, transponder came with the engine. It does fire for a second, but then quits.

Does it fire for about 2 revs then die as soon as you let the key go? If it does then it sounds exactly like the transponder unit. Have you set it up properly? I've got to get mine re-coded at vauxhall and get some new keys cut.

Yeah but I hope its not the transponder
Done the paper clip test, came up with 15 and 103 I think. Wonder what these are?

Yes of course. The dizzy has the HT leads going down - 1 4 2 3, which caught me out twice. Well its a distributorless engine.
