Right in my search for a new ECU i have been asked a number of times what my engine type is.
Now I thought it was known as a C16XE but one of the people I spoke to said its more likely to be an X16XE!
So basicully can any1 confirm what the hell it is please
Its a 1998 (2nd facelift) 1.6 16v Sport!
Cheers!

defo x16xe like every1 said.
easiest way to check is if you have the metal silver inlet manifold (4 branches on top of the engine) theny you got the X16XE
if this is black and plastic then you got the C16XE

errr, the 1.6 Sport engine is identical to the ecotec 1.6 found in late GSi's! Its different to the engine found in the earliest GSi's though! ainsley, the C16XE is a superior engine over the X16XE in many ways. More power, more torque at lower revs, less hesitation to rev higher, the only thing going against it is age.
