andy, on my old car i insured it as a 1.4 and it was a 1.6 but the engine numbers had been changed by previous owner.
The insurance company valued it as a standard engine even though there was a huge mantzel sign on the inlet manifold and blitz air filter and straight through exhaust that they could see, they still didnt pick up on it.
So i wouldnt bother telling them!

But c20xe is more desirable if you can insure it as more torque which is way hugher than the x16xe!

i always thought c20xe to go for, but when i saw and read about ur x16xe BRAD, that has made me wonder, there is alot of power u can get from a x16xe. but as ppl have said its money u have to spend to tune the x116xe up, whil u have the power already there for a c20xe.

i will have to ring the insurance company when i'm 21 in aug and c the prices! then take it from there.

it wil b fun tuning up a x16xe, the major advantage of these i'm thinking is that they r light, and not much work to get the engine in!

If i wanted a stripped out track car, i'd go for a 1.6 on TB.

If i wanted a fast road car, 2.0 is the way to go (so i did )

I have chosen the first of your suggestions, I do hope you attend some track days so I can show your ass up.

I would go for the 2.0. Like you I have a 1.4 which I have just had chipped to increase the bhp to 125, it cost me a small fortune, so would have been cheaper to drop 2.0 lump in it.

a chip will not increase BHP to 125bhp, it will be more like 95BHP if its a 16v

I'd have kept my 1.4 if i could have got a chip like that

JR, you should feel bad, pocketted pistons, cams, m-box, exhaust manifold, head flowed etc etc, and it only makes 11bhp more

You can't say, a Decent one, unless you've bought a whole car or seen teh engine running.

Most redtops are getting old now and WILL start to get problems, but then if your not prepared for the problems (touch wood i've been very lucky so far) then you shouldn't do the conversion.

They are good strong lumps, but 100,000 miles is a lot and will need perishable items to be replaced in the future.

This is good though, because it may be annoying to start off with, but gives you the chance and the reason to get better stronger parts
