Author were is the- Camshaft sensor???

ECU light came on and stayed on, so i did the pin test and got code....

92- Camshaft sensor - Faulty hall effect sensor or circuit!!!

were exactly is this?? wat does it do?? is it DIY job or a experts?

its on the cam pulleys mate.

If it's an ecotec then it's behind the cambelt cover, inbetween the cams, if it's the 8v engines the it's on the dizzy

its a 94 Gsi C16XE

i just had a look for it but i aint got a clue were it is guys

isit just a plug that im looking for?
i found one just below the front of the cam pully cover, it has the oil temp connecter right next to it aswell??

i took it of n shaked it about but the ECU light is still on?
does it need replacing? or am i looking at wrong sensor still

undo the 3 star drive bolt on the cam cover, pop it foff and you will see the sensor pointing at the paddles on one of the pulleys

oh ok, so its inside the plastic cam pulley cover on the left hand side!

When you take the two screws out of the sensor, or putting them back in, make sure you don't drop one into the lower belt cover like i did!
Cover up the hole with a bit of tape/metal/paper!
Had to change the cam belt to get it out!

Sensor cost bout £50 new or £15 from a Scrappy.

i recently had my cambelt changed!

so you think it could of just come loose?

It shouldnt have been removed orr touched for a cam belt change. If it is faulty I have one here I'll sell you

turns out wen the cam belt was changed the wire that leads to the camshaft sensor was routed thru the wrong way rite next to the cambelt pulley

so turned out it shredded the wire!
so i jus put in a new bit of wire and duck taped it nicely, good as new and problem solved

cheers for the help though guys

however i hav a new problem
lower down the cambelt plastic cover it seems to be knocking somewere??
i managed to make it pretty quite by keeping the screws loose and the cover slightly of??
