My Corsa is black at the moment and I was wondering..... would I just be able to have the laquer sanded down and have something such as a metalflake or a subtle flip sprayed over the top? This is presuming that the original black is used as the base coat. Just a thought I had How much to get this done if possible?

Yes you could a add a flake into a lacquer and use the black as a base for it.

Its not really as sraight forward as it sounds, as the paint has to be "keyed" in such away that the new lacquer holds to the old paint... but the old paint doesnt get too badly scratched that it sheows thru the new lacquer or too badly "keyed" that it doesnt dull the old paint. All of these and more factors will add up to the
finish being good or bad.
Another thing we like to do is lacquer the car with the flake in it. Then bake it dry, flatten the lacquer down and lacquer it with no flake, this makes the effect deeper. But the main reason is that the flake can give the paint surface a rough feel. So if you flatten it and coat it with lacquer that has no flake the surface will be perfect.
Abit technical i know... but if it was easy there would be no shitty paint jobs
