erm
theres a lip in the strut which the spring should sit against
dont think its possible to get it the wrong way around unless its been fitted by a really stoopid person

yeah you can fit them wrong make sure there the right way up and seated in the slots on the strut properly

wud i not of had problems wiv them if they were seated wrong tho? they been on car for bout 8 months n not had no rattles or bangs or owt from em

Cant remember if ya can put em on upside down but there is a part were they slot into on the top and bottom.
Maybe thats the problem>?
