How do the pipe things fit togeter? Do they just slot together or do you stick them with something? All mine are rusted around the joins on the pipes.

on normal exhaust they fit together and then are clamped tight.
If its old the metal may have rusted together, but normally u wudnt weld the pipes together...

The backbox is new (about 14 months old -- says on the service book) but even the join in that is rusted.
The zorst is blowing though somewhere and i can't find out where as it's not cold enough.

Got a new exhaust fitted today and it wasnt welded. I've had three different exhaust systems put on my car and none were welded.
I think there is a can of something you can buy which forms a tighter seal.

The only clamps are the ones that hold it to the car body. It just seems to be sloted togeter but each slot is rusty so i think it's been welded.
Thanks Nath, will have a look in Halfords tomorrow see if i can spray something around the joints to stop it blowing
