you need a 7mm allen bit to split the calipers, you dont need to remove the whole caliper just half of it.

more than likely you wont have a 7mm allen bit, they arnt usually sold in the sets unless its a pro one,

eg. i spent 180 quid on a socket set (halfords pro) and didnt even have a 7mm bit! grrrr

Yeah, there are four screws with hex sockets, two bigger two smaller. The smaller ones, you can remove the pads, the bigger you remove the caliper and frame. The smaller ones are in a rubber casing with plastic cover. Don't ask what size, cos I just use the one that fits.

There is also a spring clip, which comes off to get at it.

lol thats what i was gonna say!

I dont claim to know what size the alan keys are but if i were u i'd clean any dirt out of the head and then just see which key fits, best way to be sure i suppose!

i just took the ate calipers off of my calibra this afternoon.

i needed a 7mm allen key to get the caliper off from the mounting bracket (what you need to do to get to the pads), and the mounting bracket is held on with 10mm allen keys.

my key set jumped from 6mm to 8mm, so i had to go out and buy a 7. draper make a 7mm brake key which has a nice plastic handle on it. i got one today for £3.60
