I haven't changed nothing on my system but for some strange reason i cannot double click a search box anymore to get my previous searches -- i.e. google and eBay. Turned my laptop on and that has gone the same and i haven't used that for about a month 
ANyone got any ideas or has this also hap to you

In IE, go Internet Options -> Content tab -> AutoComplete button and check the settings.
It also depends on history, so the older searches will be cleared.

your history has probably cleared itself. does this every month or so i think

Google is now working but eBay is stll fecked I think it's eBay fecking around.
I delete all the temp files myself every so often as you tend to have gigabytes stored on you computer after a while
