I remember him saying that he has the heater controled by an on off switch. Basically, he has it set on hot all the time, with it set to blow at the windscreen and the footwells permenently. So it just gets turned on when its needed then turned off when its warm enough....
He moved the indicator switch somewhere too... Do a search cos I remember him saying what he's done

dvd, sat nav, mp3 collection, divx collection, music videos, games, handsfree phone, wireles internet, alarm interface, cameras. Can be done for under 500quid whereas sat nav units cost about a grand. So good value for money for a lot of features and potential for a lot more features in the future.

Basically to have the next best gadget in your car. But really, if your good enough at programming and electronics, I guess you could control loads of stuff using an in car computer. Most people just use them to play MP3's and Movies, but, you could use it to control your heater, lights, hydraulic suspension?, e.t.c... Theres no end to the stuff you could do...

I've never seen any set ups that control all that stuff you suggest 1800ed but im sure its possible and I think in car pc's are gonna be the next big thing.

yeah, you can do... mine uses the parallel port (printer port) to via an interface and a set of relays to control the heater fan motor, and electric windows. took a bit of thinking about though, but works well now!
