Sorry for sounding thick.
When connecting speaker wire, does the wire with the line through it connect to the red terminal or the black terminal. There is no + or - you see.

I think I wired the wire with the line through it to the black terminal but it sounds quieter than before and there's hardly no base, perhaps I'll swap them round later.

yeah it means ur polarity is the wrong way around, it doesnt really matter which goes to which aslong as its the same the other end.
the wire with the line is to let u know u know which one to use for negative. negative is black so the wire with the line should be used for black, and black or negative on the other end too.

the one with the line through it is posotive (red terminal) and the one without a line through it is negative (black terminal)
