600 for the head (bare)
further 150-200 for the valves, springs & seals
further 200 to re-assemble the head & 150-200 ontop of that to fit it

if i was gonna pay that i would be fitting a C20XE instead, how mad is that, you can fit a complete C20XE into a corsa which its not meant to fit into for the same exuvilent as a head for a X14XE. Vauxhall the robbing bastards

i know - really takes the wee wee!
was the whole reason I did my own repairs on the old corsa, replaced the whole top-end for £70 which included new head, all gasgets, skimming, etc...

still am yeah
i scrapped the shell of the old corsa at the weekend tho - too much rust in places & other bits wring with it so thought instead of patching it up will search for a better one. Plus I kinda gave up a bit & thought fek it...
but I've found a garage now which I can use, so gona sort myself with a new daily-driver first & then sort the rest.
The LET's are sat in a safe place

ok thanks guys had the head looked at and its pretty mashed all valve guides snapped or summat. The mechanic i know is having a look 2day coz it might have dented the pistons so could be a big bill!
Vauxhall want:
X14XE head -£658
All other parts, belts, rollers etc £300ish
Fitting £354
total bill is £1455.15!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
considering doing a 1.6GSi conversion instead now! anyone now the rough cost of C16XE engine g'box, ecu etc (bout 40,000 miles) and cost of fitting?

/\ as he said, its a good cheap conversion, if ya get a X16XE it will be even more straight foward, due to the looms beign the same
But if ya heart is set ona C16XE conversion (better engine IMO) i got a C16XE loom spare if ya need one

is the C16XE the non ecotec one? X16XE models have aircon but my car doesnt does this matter? i basically just want the most direct fit engine (1.6 16V) so am i right in thinking that the X16XE (sport model engine) will fit easier than the C16XE GSi model?

yeah the X16XE will fit easier, and you WONT get a C16XE with low milage unless its been re-built like mine (6500mile hehe) not all X16XE had air con it was an option, go for the X16XE its easier and ya will get a low milage one, end of the day yacan remove the ecotec shit and basically have a C16XE, dont forget to get the transponder chip key when ya buy the engine otherwise ya wont beable to start the engine ever cos its an immobolisor
