Right on my c14se engine, i've just replaced a camshaft rear oil seal(under dizzy cap), and now i dont use a litre of oil a week anymore.
However i noticed last nite that the dreaded red light is on very briefly when goin round sharp corners, no spots of oil on the floor and no visible smoke, perhaps a bit if i give it stick when cold.
Whats up?, Wheres the oil Goin?
Or shud i just 2.0litre the damn thing and have done?

same happens to me
I topped the oil up a month ago it cured it but its come back.

gunna get a spare lump outa the scrappy and have a fiddle, havin some runnin probs anyway, and for 25squid... cant go wrong

it'll eather be the sump leaking, or the valve seals have gone, burning off loads of oil

Sump is new, and had a top end rebuild supposedly, but it does sound very tappety on cold start mind

sounds like the valve seals mate, but as you say its been rebuilt. did you rebuild it? when they did my ols car they left the valve seals, and they went about 3 weeks later! grrr

hean will need to come off again, so new haed bolts ect. not a BIG job, but i wouldnt go steaming in just on my word, as it could be something else. just sounds like it to me

how many zausts arent black inside?
if there is an obvious thick build up of black shit then you have a problem!

nah the top end sounds rough when its cold, and it runs like shite at first when started, thinkin ive got a dodgy follwer maybe?

If it runs shit for 30 secs on first start it is usually the head gasket that is blown/leaking, had it on mine, the oil is probably the exaust valve seals, if you get smoke when powering when warm then its more major, but if you leave it on tickover for over 30 secs then rev and you then get smoke its probably the valve seals.
