howdies all,
if money was thrown at a LET (in a B), what is the possible power output that could be gained?...i remember that nova that had something silly like 600brake, but was that a LET? if so, is it possible to further the output power? Also, with a F28 box, what is it limited to in terms of top speed?

Also, if 600 (or more if possible) brake was on the cards, is it possible to get the power down to the front wheels properly, without mega loss of traction? or would it be better to go for a RWD or 4WD convertion (proper 4WD convertion, none of that two engined stuff)?

top speed wont alter that much, still in the 150-160mph region even if you start playing with longer gear ratios etc
you could obviously get 600bhp as its been done and there is evidence of this for all the doubters to cry over
it would be great to see a single engined 4x4 corsa though, lotta work though mate. LSD, big slickish tyres and a good strong chassis will help your traction worries a little, just have to practice your lift offs a lot.

your most 'likely' power output will be somewhere in between 240-350bhp with the 2 well known management systems, wallaceperformance and EDS, but to run them you have to have the necesssary engine mods and pulley kits etc....

You'd be looking at spending over £20k for that kind of power/set up........

This might help, but the guys was wanting 450bhp:

cheers lads
just that i found an article in an old copy of Total Vaux and a bloke in holland did a corsa C LET conversion, and he had it over 175mph and was in the 4secs to 60
but how is he able to sustain a speed of 175? (and the article continued to say that he could easily push it further). Obviously he isnt using a F28 box as ive been reading various sites etc about it and the top possible speed limit is around 164mph, so im guessing its a custom box (doesnt say in article)? and if its a custom box, is there "off the shelves" boxes that will fit a LET that would be able to handle 500brake+ power or would it be a case of getting a company to do a one-off box for the engine? I take it there know easy way of upgrading the F28 box to handle 600 odd brake, without the need to change the box every other month?

Also, does anyone know how reliable the thing would be? just curious how long the block and internals would last running for long periods and that type of power/speeds etc?

Also, i take that RWD would be off the list due to lack of traction? And from what venom has said, it would still be abit of git even with a 4WD system and LSDs etc is it at all possible to get the power down efficiently and quickly (quickly is the main key)? Anyone know how the reyland boys managed to do it on the escort?

p.s - sorry for all the questions, just reading up about a mad idea for a future "rally", but want something that can compete against supercars etc

I'd imagine it would have been a custom box, prob straight cut etc to cope with the power/torque too... Ask someone like Adam with the rally car, seem to remember he was lookin at SC boxes - might know of a company you could approach

the C conversion used an astra gsi engine and bits didn't it? not sure if they're the same gearbox etc. is the f28 capable of reaching 175?

aye, thats what i was thinking...but this bloke out ran a dodge viper at 172mph and the bloke in the viper was "slamming his fists against the dashboard" I threw away the copy of TV but it was a bloke in holland with a greeny/blue corsa C and you could ship your car over to him and for 13k he would get the corsa up to those speeds

still searching for boxes though and have yet to find anything apart from getting a total custom job, which is mucho mucho
