not being funny but, why put an engine from a corsa into another corsa?

you'll just lose money on it, might aswell just change cars whilst your at it

PMSL

the money already spend on a modified car is already lost anyway, so even if he buys a new car and sells the corsa he has still lost money.

not everything comes down to money, at the end of the day, i prefer to spend money on my car and get the pleasure out of it, rather than pissing it up against the wall and have nothing to show for it. and because i get the pleasure out of it, it is not deemed as 'wasted money'

go on mate, get on with it

In insurance terms the 1.6 ins't the cheap option. When I was looking at puttign a cost effective engine in my nova the 1.4 with 50BHP+ on top worked out as 900 TPFT, if I put a std 1.6 16v (bare in mind the 1.4 would be putting out 40bhp over the 1.6) the quote was 1400ish. For that money a 2L 8v would be fine to drop in, you can source these engines (20SEH) for as little as £100 with everything then it's abotu £100 more for shafts hubs achining and engine mount, plus with 2L engines you get mega fuel econ on motorways cause it doesn't need much trottle to pull the car along.
Hope that helps. I'd check insurance first, that's the hardest bit.

Oh on a different note, the nova lives, and :O it's a bit quicker, I might be going to the llamdow track day with her if I get it all done in time.

So i would be best off going for a 2.0 8v then, i suppose i will have to phone insurance company up because all circumstances are different.

Ive been told you are the man to talk to about conversions, could you give me a ball park figure on how much its going to cost to get everything i need plus getting it all fitted, its a 1.2 8v if that makes any difference!!

Cheers, Jamie

For the 1.6 16v you'd be looking in the £500 area depending how much you get the engine for. I'd say a C16XE is what you want to go for as they don't have an immobilsier so muchos easier, then use the existing gearbox shafts etc..

If you do a 2L 8v then you'd need engine, box, loom, ecu, hubs, driveshafts bigger brakes, engine mount and some machining. you could do this for under 400, bare in mind it's easier to buy a whole Cav SRi then take all the stuff you nee and scrap it, you can buy that for £200-300, then engine mount and machining si about £100-200 more.

£3500 is a lot to play with mate. cant suggest anything as i dont know wha your criteria for a car is.

personaly id be lookin at a mk2/3 golf or corrado, in your position. could even get a 4 pot e36 3 series, although the straight six engines are so much better

as ive said many a time before, corsa is not the be all and end all of automobiles

Very true, but im only 19 and since ive spent alot of time nd money on this car i want to keep it for atleast another 2 years, i really love it to pieces, (FUK ME IM SAD!) the only thing that annoys me is the engine so it just seems like the logical thing to do,

would love a corrado though

im 19 and ive insured a group 14 car for 1300, 100 more than last years premium on my old corsa TD

i kept my corsa until i could afford teh car i wanted, i suggest you do the same, another year and a VR6 could be in your sights mate
