i have a 1.4 16v sport and the brakes are pretty poor to other cars av driven. wot i wana know is, is it easy to do and how much will i be looking at for say some cav brakes from scrap yard?

Get some brakes off of a 2.0 16v Vauxhall, or even a V6 Vauxhall. If you get the 16v brakes it's just a straight swap including the disks - make sure you used new disks and at least give the calipers a thourough checking over before you use them, because who is to say that the car you got the brakes off didnt suffer brake failure... With V6 brakes you will either need to buy a special kit from a company like Cossvaux or you will need to buy the calipers and some disks off of a Fiat Coupe (I THINK) as V6 Vauxhalls used 5 stud fitiment hims - you could alwyas get the disks re-drilled too... To get even more power, upgrade the brake servo too... Both these options are a basic straight swap, you don't need any aditional brackets e.t.c.. to fit them and will cost you about £100 to do. You could also upgrade to braided brake hoses as these give you a firmer brake feel on the pedal...
