Just shopping around for new tyres. My choice as follows...
Continental Sport Contact 2
Dunlop SP 9000
Pirelli P Zero Nero
Im currently running the Conti's but was wondering if anyone has experiences with the others. Looking for one which works better in the wet ideally, as my Conti's tend to aquaplane a hell of a lot in heavy rain and as we have got winter approaching...
Looking around I CANT believe the difference in prices that some garages charge for the same tyre...
BIGGEST diffo is AA Service center want near £140 PER Dunlop fully fitted!!!
Looked on mytyres.co.uk and they will deliver them inc vat for £70 each, I can get them fitted/valved & ballanced for around £9 each...
Any oppinions...

The Dunlop's don't corner that well in the wet but in the dry they are brilliant.
As for the Pirelli's i've not properly tested yet but supposed to be a good allrounder. Cheap as well, I sell them for £67.00 delivered inc. VAT.

^ do they do them in the size I want?? Arent they supposed to be really soft and wear thru pretty quick?

Not sure on sizes they offer,
My alloys came with them so cant comment on the life of them, but they are very good and look nice too.

Yes and they do the above in 195/40/16 ??? - IT IS rare you know...

I had Goodyear eagle f1's on my old corsa 195/45/15, they are by far the best tyre for wet conditions but they are quite soft and I wore my fronts out within a year.

I'm sure that ATS or similar will do it for free so they don't have to do the VAT or tax (dunno which) - they did that with my 205/30 x 18 tyres - and it took them 2 hours to fit them

I'm driving the Pirelli's, but wit the 45 size.
On the dry, but also in the wet, excellent grip at corners.
Wet is always some sloppy, but it hold his grip.
Braking on dry and wet, also very good.
Top tyres, if you asked me...

toyo's... if u do more than 3 miles a year, you'll need to change your toyos at keast twice in taht period, tyre wear like a proper bastaard, T1R's arent as bad as t1S's though

YES PEOPLE - I hear what your saying but im like 99% SURE that Toyo/ Goodyear etc DONT do them in 195/40/16 so please READ before recomending me some.
So far the only one thats been of help is CORSA STARTER who told me that he thaught the Dunlops were too soft. Has ANYONE tried various tyres in the 195/40/16 size?
Looks as though i'll have to take the plunge if not and go for the P ZERO NERO's as im NOT happy with my Conti's...

work mate has yoko something or other in that size (one before a539 i think)
says they are great in the dry, but horrendous in the wet.

Well TBH they prob are ok but im doing the silly thing by expecting amazing performance from such a low profile. I stick some 15" MO's with Yoko A539 195/50/15 rubber on the front the other day and the grip was unbelieveable!
Dunlops are deffo out as ive asked a few garages and they say they are pretty expensive for what they are. Just been quoted P Zero's fitted for £76 a corner so thats not bad...
