and Shelly, 200mph winds are rather optimistic, with this cat5, its more like 170mph, especially with the barometric pressure thats now showing. Gonna be a top 10 most destructive/powerful though because its slowed right down in tracking.
just going off what they said on the news this morning
News knows fuck all then.
Are you a fukin weatherman
kind of, i have studied weather and patterns extensively since my a-level geography course, and i can safely predict the weather using my own barometric readings. I have a keen interest in extreme weather, and i know what im talking about unlike the news which is often blown out of proportion to relay a more astonishing story then what is true.

This is what she put in the email
Flight delayed as Mexico ' Cancun is in path of hurricane Ivan. Can
you check the internet for when flight is coming in as they have told us
at the moment that the flight is delayed 24 hours. Things dont look
togood as they are taping up the windows in restaurants and moving all
lamps out of reception. If we are coming home and you cannot collect us
can you speak to Andy or Chris and see if they can meet us. Flight
number still the same it is Thomas Cook Manchester Terminal 1 no. TCX234L.
Will let you know as and when we get to hear what is happening but keep
a check on the internet. Look for hurricane Ivan and we are on the
Carribean, Mexico, Yucatan peninsular area about half an hour south of
Cancun

aaaah cancun. That explains that then i will help yous out. Red cross is where your mum is, and thats pretty close to the hurricane, although the projected path is somewhat good for your mum, should escape the worst of the winds, but is likely to encounter tropical storm conditions.

Well the hurricane force winds are felt at about 160miles from the hurricanes eye, and tropical storm winds at a a maximum of about 250 miles. so its pretty big.
