Can I download a firewall for my computer?

Also, what else will stop pop ups and make my connection more secure?

Cheers!

Also, is it a big job to format my hard drive and re-install windows etc?

Basically, I need to get everything of my hard drive as there is some kind of virus that is dialling up premium numbers which means a massive bill!

Can anyone help??????

Norton Personal firewall includes a function for blocking pop up's and will protect you computer.

It sounds like a dialer has automatically installed itself as the default connection or even overwritten your ISP dialer. Have a look at your network connections in the control panel for any dodgy dial up's.

Installing Windows is a fairly easy job - put the CD in and reboot, go in the BIOS and change boot priority so CD is the first, Windows setup will then load and give you the option to format the hard drive then install a fresh copy of Windows. That's the case for Win XP, might need to download boot disks from Microsoft if your on a later version.

There are the following as Dial Ups in control panel:

EX3 and NV

Should I just delete them? I am on Broadband if that makes any difference!

Also, how can I stop this damn Messenger Service?

Cheers for the help fellas, appreciated!

nah m8 complete over reaction, to not a very big problem, plus you'll lose loadsa stuff like documents if you have no means of backing up - Just download Adware as that will cure a shit load of problems, install service pack 2, and run any antivirus software just to check you ain't got a virus - and everything will be fine
