its my dads o3 plate mondeo, hes having a bit of trouble with his alarm system. when he unlocks the car, a few seconds later it locks itself without him doing anything.
It doesnt usually do this, what can it be?
he has standard security by the way but thats still pretty decent as its one of the top models, cheers peeps

my car used to unlock itself, was a standard vx alarm ect. i was told it was a bad earth somewhere. do u know an autoelectrician?

unlocking itself would be a bit of a problem. Its still under warrenty so its going to the garage tomorrow

yes i guess locking itself could be seen as a bonus
u have to pay extra for that with an aftermarket alarm
you sure its not standard procedure?

well hes had the car since new and its only started doing it today, hasnt been messing about doiing anything with it. However, a few nights back, sum pikeys were in my dive way and my dad woke up and they legged it, i wonder if they have tried having a go at disconnecting his car

It's called anti hi-jack. If he reads the instructions for the car he could probably disable it...

doesnt have any locks for the doors, just boot and bonnet. Hes quite technical so hes got his head inside the manual atm and getting up early to have a looky see....still taking it in just to get checked over though, even if he does mend it

could it be passive arming
this locks your car after 30 secs or 1 mins if untouched
seen people lock there keys in when getting petrol
I turned this off on my clifford concept 600 as its a pain in the arse

i mentioned that those pikeys may have done something to his and it got him thinking........hes outside now with a few 'working lamps' (dont know real name) looking under the car for damage lol

wot about the above as this can normaly be turned on and off with a patterened key press
and you even get passive arming on the cheap argos alarms

i've just told him about what you said mate. hes inside havin a cuppa coffee atm, either off back out in a second or early tomorrow coz its freezing lol.

that is not how anti hijack works
you have to unlock the car, get in, close the door and start the car for the doors to lock in anti hijack mode
