My dear old mum has had her petrol cap snappned off and a full tank of petrol stolen.
Fuck knows how they did it as its a MK4 Astra and because it's quite new, apparently you're unable to syphen (suck up) the petrol out. You cant get a tube down to the petrol tank.
What makes thinsg worse is they've scratched her car, where they snapped the petrol cap off they've scratched all around the wing, and there's a load of black scratch/scuff marks on the rear wheel arch and corner of the bumper... maybe they used some sort of mechanical device to get the petrol out?
Pikey fucks

A bit of a co-incidence that she had a full tank of petrol. Why go to all that bother to find someone only had £5 of petrol left?
I'm wondering if someone followed her from the petrol station...

Thats the thing, they must have know what they was doing because it's supposed to be impossible to syphen petrol out of newer cars. theres various things to stop the pipe going into the fuel tank.
It looks like they've used some sort of machine from the scrathes/scuffs.
I know of someone who worked at a scrap place, and they had various machines to syphen the petrol out of the cars, even he said they could never get petrol out of newer cars.

Craig get the fuel pipes looked at.
They probably used the cars fuel pump to get the petrol out by connecting a small 12v battery to the pump, then cutting or pulling off the pipe.

I don't think the pipes have been played with, someone has had a look underneath and all seems fine. My mums put some more petrol in since too.

It was either done whilst she was at work (she's a carer for old people so visits various different houses) or on our drive at home.
If it was done while she was at work they'd have had to have done it in under 30 mins, which is very unlikely.
I can't see how they did it at my house either, the car is parked on stones which is pretty loud when you walk on them, my dog barks and we have a security light. My next door neighbour is a copper and he said he's a very light sleeper and always wakes up when a random walks on the stones when going up/down the road.

Oh and the police
My mum reported it for insurance purposes.
She rang out local police station, and was greeted by an answer phone. They took a while to ring back and then told her they dont deal with things in this area - even though its the local police station
they told her to ring another police station, so she did, and was greeted by an answering machine. They took a while to ring back and again told her they couldnt deal with and and told her to ring another police station... so she did, and was greeted by another answering machine. They took ages to ring her back and told her they'd get back to her with a crime scence reference number - still havent heard from them.
They do like to pass the buck.

I can go one better on that one...
My brother's flatmate's car got broken into outside his house in Uni, a few years back, so he went down to the local police station only to be greeted with this absolute gem of a response:
"Sorry mate, we don't deal with crime here."
Turns out they opened a full police station just to deal with truancy in the area, and he got referred to another police station about 10 miles away.

Yes the only thing I can think of is perhaps they used some sort of device to extract the petrol from the tank, or done something to the pipes etc.
I tried syphoning petrol out of my old Corsa a few years ago (98 S reg) and I couldn't do it.
