I have XP SP2 on my laptop and it seems OK. Dunno about the home networking thing, don't have one - unless you count a wireless connection to a ADSL modem/router as home networking!

Why can't you just use Windows Update? http://www.windowsupdate.com

But if windows update doesn't work for you then you can download it from microsoft.com...

It's 294mb by the way...

SP2 can also be ordered, free, from Microsoft on CD. Most computer magazines are coming with it recently, though.

i got Windows XP pro with service pack 2 on a CD through work because we have some special liscense which allows peeps to use it at home i believe.

We tried installnig SP2 on my bros pc which had a dodgey key and it all went tits up

Moral of the story is....If you have a dodgey version of XP, don't use the online update for SP2
