I have a sony head unit and a sony 10 disc multichanger at the moment but I was wondering if a jvc or any other head unit is compatible with the multichanger

as long as it has CD Changer control it will be fine

Well no, it won't. YOu won't be able to plug them into each other as they use different BUS cables. You could try getting an adapter if they make one, if not, stick to Sony.

so a diffrent headunit wont work with a sony multichanger

As said above it wont work as the bus cables are different, you can get changers that are universal that work with different head units, though they are not as good as a dedicated one.
